FAQS

DO I NEED A REFERRAL TO SEE DR. MURPHY?

YES - New patients wishing to see Dr. Murphy must be referred by their family doctor or a specialist.

If you were a patient of Dr. Murphy's but haven't seen Dr. Murphy in 2 years you'll need to get another referral from your family doctor.

DOES DR. MURPHY CHARGE A NO-SHOW FEE?

Yes.  A no show fee is charged when a patient has an appointment and does not give 24 hours notice to cancel or postpone.

It’s important to know that when you miss an appointment or cancel at the last minute, you not only impact your doctor (e.g., they may lose income, they may incur costs, etc.), but you impact other patients who could have taken your appointment. To the extent that you can, it’s important to make sure you go to the appointments you’ve made or cancel them with enough notice that another patient can take your spot.

A phone call or an email is all we need to cancel the appointment.

OHIP does not pay Dr. Murphy when patients fail to show.

We DO NOT call to remind you of your appointment.  We do, as a courtesy, send email reminders when possible

It is the patient's responsibility to update their email addresses and manage their schedule.

CAN I USE EMAIL AS A FORM OF COMMUNICATION AND ASK MEDICAL QUESTIONS?

We use email to notify you of your appointment.

Your privacy is important to us.  We will not answer ANY medical questions over email.  Should you have a question regarding your health call the office.

DOES DR. MURPHY SEE QUEBEC PATIENTS?
